During construction, it was discovered that the building lacked an adequate foundation, requiring the GFP team to install proper underpinning before moving forward. The project concluded with the construction of a new reinforced concrete unloading ramp and containment pit designed for long-term durability and improved performance.

The team also installed a containment curb around the perimeter of the new slab, along with a paved turnaround area, creating a durable, secure, and fully contained foundation system.

Harrington Public Library

Scope: GFP Cement Contractors was responsible for all cast-in-place concrete work for the Harrington Public Library project, including foundations, piers, and slabs on grade. The scope included layout and excavation, installation of reinforcing steel and concrete accessories, anchor bolts, blockouts, and embedments, as well as maintaining and dewatering excavations throughout construction. The team also handled backfilling, subgrade regrading, cold-weather protection, and support for concrete testing activities.

Scope: GFP Cement Contractors demolished the existing slab, excavated 4 feet of soil, and installed a 124-CY machine foundation. The team built a precise free-span framework to place 38 triangular sleeve pockets within a 1/16″ tolerance, installed all inserts and conduit, poured and finished the MAT foundation, and worked closely with the Engineer to meet exact design requirements.

Scope: GFP Cement Contractors provided comprehensive concrete services, including layout, excavation, foundations, grade beams, and pile caps. The scope included constructing reinforced foundation walls and column piers, installing an elevator pit base and walls, and building multiple slabs on grade with required reinforcing, joints, curing compound, and stair infills. GFP also managed backfilling, subgrade preparation, and all necessary labor, materials, and equipment to complete the building’s cast-in-place concrete elements.

Scope: GFP Cement Contractors delivered a full turnkey mass-concrete package for a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project, including mix design, thermal modeling, temperature-control planning, and installation. The team managed 120,000 lbs. of blended cement and used an on-site chiller plant to maintain a 65°F target pour temperature, conditioning aggregates and batching with chilled water to meet strict ACI 301-Section 8 requirement
